Winsor & Newton Oil Painting Primers

Winsor & Newton Oil Painting Primer is an excellent surface preparation medium for artists working with oil colours. The primer is ready to use directly from the tin with no thinning or stirring required. Suitable for use on many metal and porous surfaces such as glue-sized canvases, untreated wood panels, paper, and more, with minimal to no sinking in.

Winsor & Newton Oil Painting Primer is made from an oil-modified resin medium, this primer will not yellow or become chalky. It will provide a bright white surface and is specially designed for use with oil paints, as the treated ground will accept oil colours easily without absorbency.

To use, apply directly from the tin using a brush or paint roller to your chosen surface. Allow 24 hours for the primer to dry before painting. Mix a small amount of oil paint to Winsor & Newton Oil Painting Primer for tinted priming if desired.
