Winsor & Newton Galeria Gesso Primer

Winsor & Newton Galeria White Gesso Primer can be used straight from the pot and has excellent tooth, improving colour adhesion. Priming your surface is an important step in the painting process as it improves the durability and longevity of your artworks.

To use this white gesso primer, apply to your surface from the pot with a brush, knife, or roller. Your choice of applicator will have an effect on the resulting texture of the gesso, for example applying with a coarse brush will result in a more roughly textured surface, while using a roller or soft bristled brush will give you a smoother finish.

If working with oil paints, it is recommended to apply at least 2 coats of the gesso in order to reduce absorbency of the surface and to boost the integrity of the film layer.
