This formulation provides artists with a lower toxicity option compared to traditional solvents while maintaining dependable performance in the studio.

Made as a clear, transparent liquid with no strong odour, the Langridge Solvent Low Toxic 500ml evaporates at a moderate rate, helping reduce fume exposure. It is suitable for light cleaning tasks, including the removal of surface dirt on cured paint films, however full artwork cleaning or varnish removal should only be carried out by a trained conservator. Due to its construction, this solvent cannot dissolve damar resin and is not suitable for making varnishes.

When used sparingly with oil paint, it creates a more fluid working consistency. Overuse is not recommended as excessive dilution can weaken the paint film. For artists seeking very fluid techniques, a prepared painting medium is advised.
