Derivan Blackboard Paint

Derivan Blackboard Chalkboard Paint is a jet black water-based paint that converts wood, metal and glass into a blackboard or chalkboard surface. It can also be used to give existing blackboards a new lease of life.

Derivan Blackboard Paint works on most surfaces that are suitable for a water-based acrylic paint. Ensure the surface is dust-free and clean before applying. The smoother the surface to be painted the smoother your chalk board will be.

Derivan Chalkboard Paint contains no harmful solvents and is suitable for use all around the home from terracotta pots, jars, inside kitchen cupboards, canvas boards and more. The easy to apply paint can be applied with a dry soft bristle brush or foam brush. For a very smooth surface a foam roller can be used to apply the paint.

Whilst the consistency of the Derivan Blackboard Paint is thick, ensure only thin coats are applied. It is recommended to add 2-3 coats to achieve a completely opaque and matt finish. Allow paint to dry at least 8 hours between coats for optimal coverage and durability. Be sure to wait at least 48 hours before using chalk on the surface to ensure the product is thoroughly dry.

Derivan Blackboard Paint can be used with dry pastel pencils to create finer lines and details but it is not suitable for mixing with Derivan mediums.

To remove chalk marks from the blackboard paint surface, lightly rub with a damp cloth. A traditional blackboard eraser is not suitable for use with Derivan Blackboard Paint.
