Description
Art Spectrum Calcite is a fine dense white chalk (Calcium Carbonate) that is available in powder form and used to extend oil colours.
Using Art Spectrum Calcite when making traditional grounds for oil painting will provide extra tooth. It can be added in small amounts to gesso as well to increase the tooth and change the texture of the coat, as well as increasing the absorbency of acrylic gessos. Calcite also has a lower oil absorbency rate than Whiting.
Alternatively, Art Spectrum Calcite can be used as a filler for water-based paints, helping to increase their opacity.
Note: some settling of materials in the packaging may occur.
