It is recommended to apply at least 2 coats of gesso, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. This will allow for maximum colour adhesion and protection for your artwork.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf painting with oils, it is recommended to seal your surface first with Matisse Matt Medium or Matisse Clear Sealer, then apply at least 3 coats of gesso on top of this.
